Visitors to the Gettysburg National Military Park can explore the historic battlefield alone, hire a licensed battlefield guide or join the battlefield bus tour for a personalized guided tour of the battlefield. Self-guided auto audio tours are available free of charge at the Gettysburg Museum & Visitors Center in cassette or CD format. The audio tour guides visitors through the park, highlights important sites throughout the battlefield and focuses on the lives and experiences of Civil War soldiers. Visitors looking for a more in-depth tour can hire a licensed battlefield guide who will drive guests through the park for a two-hour long tour. Guided bus tours are also available from March through mid-October. Licensed guide tours and bus tours are available on a first come, first served basis beginning daily at 8am. Located in downtown Gettysburg, this historic 1816 home was the center of Gettysburg's recovery efforts after the historic Battle of Gettysburg. David Wills was instrumental in establishing the Soldiers National Cemetery and President Lincoln worked on his Gettysburg Address speech while he was a guest at Wills' home. Today, the David Wills House is home to a museum that features six galleries, including Wills' office and the Lincoln bedroom.
